Introducing brokerAll brokers side by side, contract by contract: broker margins by contract.
What intraday margin is
Intraday (“day-trading”) margin is credit a broker extends for positions that are closed before the session ends: it lets you open a position with less than the exchange margin, on the condition that you close it, or bring your account up to the exchange requirement, before a cut-off the broker sets. Brokers usually raise or suspend it around major scheduled events such as central-bank decisions and key economic releases, and can change it without notice. It is not a measure of risk: a contract's price moves the same whatever margin you post, and a smaller deposit means a loss can exceed your account balance sooner.
Not included: Interactive Brokers (its website terms allow only personal, non-commercial use of site content without IBKR's written consent); TradeStation (its User Agreement says no portion of the website may be reproduced, and the site blocks automated clients). We only republish broker pages whose terms allow it.
